According to the permissions for the currently authenticated user, Apperian’s solution (as shown in Figure 19-6) displays only the categories of applications that the current user has permission to install. One unique feature provided by Apperian’s solution is the ability to centrally manage and deploy media fi les, like images, videos, documents, or fi les of a custom fi le format that can be associated with custom in-house applications (illustrated in Figure 19-7). This can help organizations keep content up to date and distribute it to users when and where they need it. Apperian is just one of many vendors offering functionality that can be relatively simple to develop in-house. Many of the MDM vendors discussed in the next chapter provide very similar functionality and capabilities, but if you go with an MDM approach that doesn’t include an app catalog feature, then Apperian is one option to consider.
