12 Part IV n Development Figure 19-7: A unique feature provided by Apperian’s app catalog is the ability to push media and content to iOS devices for easy consumption by users. Summary Once you’ve developed your in-house enterprise apps and have deployed your hardware, you need to install the software on your users’ devices. There are three ways this can be accomplished: the App Store, Ad Hoc, or Enterprise deployment models. Depending on the application and the situation, any of those three models can be appropriate options, and most organizations will utilize a combination of all three. Additionally, since most companies will deploy more than one in-house app, providing your users with an in-house catalog can offer a lot of value and empower users with a self-service capability on a par with Apple’s own App Store. Facilitating the deployment of applications and the update of those apps is a relatively straightforward process, but you don’t have to reinvent the wheel, since there are a number of third-party vendors that offer pre-built solutions to accomplish this. In the next chapter, you’ll dig into the concepts and vendors involved in mobile device management. Many of those same third parties will also provide the app catalog capabilities discussed in this chapter. Copyrighted Material. Not for Redistibution.
